By now, we all know that Singapore’s Botanic Gardens is the go-to place for a romantic photoshoot, whether it’s for a proposal, pre/post-wedding, or wedding. With its lush greenery and exquisite architecture, photos captured at this local landmark transport couples into their very own rom-com.
But where exactly should we head to in Botanic Gardens? Where should we go to recreate all these iconic and dreamy photos splashed on Natasha Kasim Photography’s feed?
If you’re planning for a photoshoot at Botanic Gardens, you’re in luck because you’ll be spoilt for choice. From the famous Bandstand to the hidden Sembcorp cool house, we’re here to share 6 of our favourite spots for your upcoming photoshoot.
1. Bandstand
When we think of Botanic Gardens, our minds immediately picture a white gazebo towering over a sea of green. If you’re thinking of this iconic lattice structure, then you’re likely thinking of none other than the Bandstand.
Frame your couple shot with the pearly white grids of the gazebo or let it stand as a backdrop to an intimate picnic like our couple, Affy and Zuhair, here. Either way, you’re bound to secure some memorable shots for the ‘gram.
Nearest Pick Up Point: Learning Forest Carpark
2. Swan Lake
If you’re looking for something more dreamy, perhaps you’ll prefer the Swan Lake. Located near the Tanglin Entrance, this photo spot transforms any photo into an ethereal, fairytale-like scene with its European-style pavilions and glistening water body.
Between the rustic Swan Lake Gazebo and the Flight of Swans sculpture, there are plenty of elements to elevate any photos taken in the area. In fact, you might even get a cameo from the real-life swans the lake is named after!
Nearest Pick Up Point: Botany Centre/Learning Forest Carpark
3. Gallop Extension
Are you looking for an indoor spot in Botanic Gardens? Well, look no further than Gallop Extension. The black-and-white bungalow provides a minimalist backdrop perfect for intimate shots, away from the glaring sun.
Perched atop a small hill, you get the best of both worlds with options for both an indoor and outdoor shoot, depending on what you prefer and what the weather allows. It’s also just 5 minutes away from the pick up point, which means you don’t have to walk too far after a long day of wedding festivities—especially for the ladies in heels.
Nearest Pick Up Point: Gallop Extension Carpark
4. Sembcorp cool house
We’ve all heard of the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest at Gardens By The Bay, but did you know Botanic Gardens sports its own glasshouse in the National Orchid Garden? Surrounded by 1000 orchid species, you’ll get the beauty of standing amidst flowers in a garden while still being indoors—a definite bonus on a sweltering hot day!
Just take note that you’ll have to pay to enter the National Orchid Garden, ranging from $5 (locals) to $15 (standard). You can check the full price listing here. Well, sometimes comfort comes at a cost so you can decide if it’s a small price to pay for gorgeous photos in a cooling environment
Nearest Pick Up Point: Learning Forest Carpark
5. Sundial Garden
If a red brick road is more up your alley, then you may want to head to the Sundial Garden instead. With trimmed leafy hedges and a pergola nearby, this quaint corner of Botanic Gardens is great for organic photos of you strolling with your partner.
This garden takes inspiration from French palace grounds, so walk down these aisles and relive our very own royal fantasy of The Princess Diaries here!
Nearest Pick Up Point: Learning Forest Carpark
6. Ethnobotany Garden
For some of us, a simple open field with flowers is just what you want to capture those quiet moments between you and your partner. Whether it’s a heartfelt interaction on a bench in a picturesque garden or sauntering past antique lamp posts, give your photos that filmesque touch at the Ethnobotany Garden.
You can even head to the wooden pergolas for some rustic shots for that cottagecore aesthetic we know you love.
Nearest Pick Up Point: Jacob Ballas Children's Garden Carpark
Bonus Tip
Psst, who said you had to choose just one location? Make the most of your photoshoot at Botanic Gardens by mixing up your shots with multiple places. Just make sure you plan your trip using the map of the Botanic Gardens here and let your photographers know where you’d like to go. That way, we can also advise you on whether it's feasible to squeeze these locations into the amount of time you’ve set aside for the photoshoot.
We also want to add a disclaimer to our brides that there’ll be a lot of walking around the gardens so you may want to bring in an extra pair of shoes to keep yourself comfortable.
Whether you choose Botanic Gardens, or if you’re interested in other locations, what’s most important is choosing a place that allows both you and your partner to feel most relaxed and ready for a photoshoot. And once you’ve decided on a location, do consider engaging NKP to be your photographers & videographers so we can show you our favourite hidden nooks and share some tips from our previous photoshoots too!
